Homeostasis:
What is the simple definition of homeostasis?
A property of cells, tissues, and organisms that allows the maintenance and regulation of the stability and constancy needed to function properly. Homeostasis is a healthy state that is maintained by the constant adjustment of biochemical and physiological pathways.

What is homeostasis in the human body? 
Homeostasis is the ability to maintain a relatively stable internal state that persists despite changes in the world outside. All living organisms, from plants to puppies to people, must regulate their internal environment to process energy and ultimately survive.

Health care or healthcare: 

Healthcare is the maintenance or improvement of health via the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, illness, injury, and other physical and mental impairments in beings. Health care is delivered by health professionals (providers or practitioners) in allied health professions, chiropractic, physicians, associates, dentistry, midwifery, nursing, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, psychology, and other health professions. This includes the work done in providing primary care, secondary care, and tertiary care, as well as in public health.

Healthcare Provider: 
Today’s Healthcare Provider is defined by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as a wellness and prevention plan manager, or a health, wellness or prevention services organization that conducts health risk assessments or offers ongoing face-to-face, telephonic, or web-based intervention efforts for each of the program’s participants, and which may include the following wellness and prevention efforts:

(3) Physical fitness
(4) Nutrition/Nutrition Education
(5) Heart disease prevention
(6) Smoking cessation

Managed Care:
The term managed care or managed healthcare is used in the United States to describe a group of activities intended to reduce the cost of providing health care and providing American health insurance while improving the quality of that care.

What is the role of managed care?
Managed care controls overall costs by controlling the supply and demand of all healthcare resources. The supply of all resources is controlled through defined benefit limitations, and contracts with all providers of products and services, including all hospitals, physicians, pharmacies, venders, and other providers.

What is a managed healthcare organization?
A managed care organization or MCO is a health care company or a health plan that is focused on managed care as a model to limit costs, while keeping quality of care high.

 

What do managed care organizations manage?
A managed care organization is a single organization which manages the financing, insurance, delivery, and payment to provide health care services. Financing – the MCO and employer negotiates a fixed premium per enrollee and the health services provided in the contract.
